Rumor: Modern Warfare 2 multiplayer disables Xbox Live party chat

If rumors circulating around NeoGAF prove true, Modern Warfare 2 developer Infinity Ward won't be allowing the use of the Xbox 360's party chat feature during ranked multiplayer playlists in its upcoming title. Since a distinction in the post is made between different styles of online matches (ranked and social), we presume the function will not be utilized throughout all of Modern Warfare 2's online playlists.

Speaking with Joystiq, Infinity Ward community manager Robert Bowling said the company "can't comment on leaks," and was unable to confirm if the feature will, in fact, be disabled. "Players should reserve judgment until they get a chance to experience it for themselves on November 10 instead of viewing it out of context," Bowling added. Have an opinion on the matter?

They do that I will be submitting a complaint explaining why party needs to be avalible, especially to clans.

This is going to happen, one of my friends has a guy on his FR that works for Infinity Ward, and they said they did this for the search reasons... people stay in parties and tell them where enemies are...

And, they think that I will be a good idea because people can meet other people and talk to eachother and make friends...

I was talking to the guy with my friend, and I have to say that he is a pretty cool guy...

That is such a dumb Idea, now we are going to get annoying little kids screaming into their mic, and people are going to go at each others throats...

I tend to not beleive people who say that sort of stuff over LIVE. Expecially if it's Infinity Ward which I know for a fact almost makes their members vow to keep silent until release day.

I don't know the guy but I'm sticking to my guns and saying that not only is it true, but we'll be seeing it dissapear rather quickly...

well for ranked Games party chat should not be allowed..it is a easy way to cheat..but for social Games it would be ok

I prefer to be in a party. Cheating can happen in game chat too, all you need is a team of six idiots with all the cheats in the world and another team of six unsuspecting players.

Not to mention especially for clans it makes it easy to not hear the extra noise, help conentrate, you know.

Also not a fan of screaming ten year olds and the noobs who do nothing but swear and bash clans...

I have to agree with Pol on this one....cheating happens everywhere all the time. Not to mention people with modded controllers and such.

As for the ten year old kids who scream all the time and the kids that yell and get into fights, I'd rather pass. If they take away party chat because of cheating, you can still send messages and go into a Private Chat remember.....
