Report: Modern Warfare 2 was the most pirated game of 2009

Last year, TorrentFreak awarded Spore the dubious title of Most Pirated Game of 2008 -- this year, the victor (by an overwhelming margin) is Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2. According to the torrent news site's calculations, the PC version of Infinity Ward's shooter was unscrupulously downloaded 4.1 million times. When combined with the 360 version of the game, that number tops five million. Looks like boycotts do work! And by "boycotts," we of course mean, "mankind's overwhelming desire to get things for free through easily accessible, barely regulated channels."

im not surprised, many people got banned because of it as well, even I know a couple people at my school who downloaded it and got banned. All I did was say "I told you so you get banned" lol

oh man, it really isn't a good thing but at least we'll know how many won't be able to play it anymore, very soon we are all going to here screams around the world of the fact there are now banned, lol.

Well considering it's anticipation and it's sales numbers it's not surprising. Millions of people have the game so I'd be shocked if another title got outpirated.

At the same time, it still upsets me that people do this. I'm just glad a whole lot of them found a nice little ban waiting for them.

I honestly thought it would be Uncharted 2 or MW2. I have to say, and so would 1up.com, GamePro, Gameinformer, IGN, Maxim, Playboy, Gamecrazy, and soooo many others, that Uncharted 2 is probably the best game of all time. If you havent played it...you need to.
